Summer Seisiúins Offer Vibrant Irish Holiday Experience In Laois

Experience the craic agus ceol with authentic Irish music, song and dance during your holiday in Ireland

As part of creating a holiday to remember, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann has established summer “seisiúns” the length and breadth of the country, including Laois, so visitors to the area can enjoy traditional Irish entertainment at its best.

Seisiún’s are stage shows consisting of Irish music, song and dance. The shows focus on providing visitors with a first-hand experience of the type of music that has been passed down from generation to generation in Ireland. The show concludes with an informal traditional session where the visitors are encouraged to participate if they so wish. Audience members can join in dances such as the Siege of Ennis and the Walls of Limerick and a song or two. Light refreshments are provided at the various interludes.  This is a unique way to be a part of traditional Irish culture in a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

Seisiúns in Laois take place as follows:

CCÉ Seisiún at Kavanagh Pub in Portlaoise every Thursday evening at 9pm until 18thAugust

Seisiún is not just a concert but also a unique traditional cultural experience enabling visitors from both Ireland and overseas to enjoy a taste of the real Ireland and has been providing a unique entertainment experience for visitors for over 30 years.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is the largest group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music. 2011 is the 60th anniversary of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, and its organising branches will put on special events to celebrate the anniversary.
