Small Business leads the way as the first 32 county #SMEcommunity tweet-up takes place in Birr

If Ireland is looking for a demonstration of phenomenal growth and positivity it doesn’t have to look much further than the Twitter group known as #SMEcommunity.
What started a mere 8 months ago with a single tweet between two Irish business people, has now grown into an offline gathering incorporating all 32 counties which will take place in the County Arms Hotel in Birr on 27th January 2012. The event, which is free, is organised on a voluntary basis by members of the #SMEcommunity who all have a positive attitude to moving forward with their businesses whilst supporting others along the way.
Part of that support is being provided by the County Arms Hotel, who have not only stepped up to offer a venue for the big event at no cost but are an example of the type of mind-set that is making #SMEcommunity gain popularity amongst its many contributors.
The amount of advice, support and business being generated within #SMEcommunity and its 1100 followers has been extraordinary. This event is an extension of the connections which have been made online where there is such a willingness to help others and offer advice. The members were all unanimous in feeling a point had been reached where it would be good to meet in person and have a totally positive start to 2012 for Irish small business.
#SMEcommunity member, Debbie Harper, notes ‘Being in business can be very daunting and it is good to know there are other businesses out there who have been or are in the same situation as you. As small businesses we do not have the access to big finances for social media, advertising, business mentors & accountants. The #SMEcommunity helps bridge this gap and it’s great to be able to have an informal chat and obtain friendly advice when you need it’
The Event will kick off at 11am and the idea is for all the small businesses to chat, get to know the other businesses they have met on twitter and meet new ones. It’s about talking to each other, hearing what others are doing and being able to recommend each other in the future.
Small businesses are going to be what puts Ireland back on its feet and we need to support, encourage and work together as much as possible. This event is open to everyone all you need to do is register.
The County Arms is offering special rates for those wishing to stay over. More details are available when you sign up. To book your place, please go to http://www.eventbrite.ie/event/2713358729 and state whether you want lunch in the hotel, along with Email, Business and location. This will enable us to make a list to share with those coming so you can plan your networking & catch up with Twitter friends.
