Minister Coveney Announces Extension to Deadline for Receipt of 2011 Sheep and Goat Census Returns
Source — Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine — 23/02/12
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, today reminded sheep and goat farmers of the importance of submitting an accurate sheep or goat census form to the Department and announced that the deadline for receipt of the December 2011 sheep and goat census is being extended until 11th March 2012. The Minister also reminded farmers that the annual census is an integral part of the National Sheep and Goat Identification Systems and is a legal requirement. Failure to submit a census form in time or the submission of an inaccurate census can lead to penalties as a result of Cross Compliance requirements and can also impact on claims made under certain schemes. Details of ewe numbers submitted in Census Returns received by the Department after the deadline will not be taken into account for the purposes of the calculation of payment under the 2012 Grassland Sheep Scheme, which will result in a reduced payment to the applicant.
