Pieta House CEO and Founder to Launch Roscrea Darkness into Light

Joan Freeman, CEO and Founder of Pieta House, will be in the Scout Hall, Abby Street, Roscrea on Friday, 27th April at 6.00pm to launch the Roscrea Darkness into Light 5km walk and also to talk about Pieta House and their aim to eventually have a Pieta House crisis centre no more than 100 hundred miles from everyone in Ireland.

 

The aim of Darkness into Light is twofold – to raise funds and increase awareness about suicide and self-harm intervention. For the first time ever Pieta House will hold a Darkness into Light in Co. Tipperary. On Saturday, 12th May 2012 thousands of people across the country will gather at 4am and walk, run or jog from the darkness into the dawn light. The walk is symbolic of the work that Pieta House do – they bring people from the darkness into the light.

 

About Pieta House

Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre. It is the only organisation in the country providing a professional, face to face, free of charge therapeutic service for people in the acute stages of suicidal distress. The primary aim of Pieta House is to reduce suicide by helping people get through that critical phase when suicide becomes a plan rather than just an idea.
