Nominations are now open for the LAMA Community & Council Awards 2014

Now in their 8th year the LAMA Community and Council Awards 2014 in association with IPB(formerly LAMA Awards), highlight and recognise community and councils together, bringing national recognition to projects and developments that may otherwise go unrecognised.

For the very first year, nominations are now open to the public. We want you to nominate and reward the hard work and innovation in your community. You can nominate quickly and simply through our website www.lamaawards.org. Projects can be nominated across 23 categories that demonstrate the work implemented through unique projects that enhance their local area for the good of the community. Once a project is nominated, the individual(s) associated with the nominated project or initiative are contacted and given the opportunity to submit an entry into the awards.

For 2014 the awards have introduced a number of community categories in order to recognise the people and the projects who are making positive changes within communities across Ireland.  In 2013, Best Community Based Initiative was won by Fleadh Cheol na hÉireann, a unique community-based project which successfully organised the biggest traditional music festival in the world and Community Volunteer of the Year was won by Joe Byrne who was nominated by South Dublin County Council.

The LAMA Community & Council Awards are ever evolving with the introduction of seven new categories this year. One of these categories is Best Energy Smart Initiative by a Local Authoritysponsored by Codema. The overall winner of this category will automatically be shortlisted for the first ever Ace Awards which recognise sustainable energy achievements throughout North-West Europe. A full list of categories can be found at www.lamaawards.org.

The Awards will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry on January 25th, 2014. For more information visitwww.lamaawards.org
