STARCAMP Presents ‘Solitaire – A song for Childline’
Rihanna, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Ellie Goulding, Eminem and 110 Irish children…..what do all of these have in common? Dazzling, talented performers battling it out for the coveted Number 1 spot in the Irish charts.
On November 1st, “SOLITAIRE – A SONG FOR CHILDLINE” will be released into the Irish Charts in aid of CHILDLINE’s milestone 25 year Anniversary, with all proceeds going to Childline. 110 Irish children ranging from three to thirteen years of age, that attended Starcamp Summer Camps all over Ireland, gathered with STARCAMP leaders, musicians, photographers, videographers and 
technicians to record the single in Cork’s impressive School of Music. Some of the children were local to Cork while many travelled for hours to get there from every corner of Ireland but even the rain and the lengthy car journeys didn’t dampen the excitement and joy of that day which can really be heard in the single. The children worked so hard to learn the song and gave it 110% on the day and the hard work and dedication from everyone involved over the recent months has really been reflected in the track and it is something they can be incredibly proud of for the rest of their lives.
Aideen O’ Grady from STARCAMP adds “it was a complete goosebump moment to witness these children singing. Children reaching out to other children is just wonderful to see and there was barely a dry eye in the theatre. Given the nature of Starcamp and the fact that our core ethos is building children’s self-esteem and confidence, it seems a natural and perfect next step to help this wonderful organisation in a way that we can as they reach a milestone of 25 years answering children’s calls. It really was an incredible opportunity for these children and they gave it their all. We hope to raise much needed funds for Childline in the run up to Christmas as today sadly “1 in 3” calls still remain unanswered.”
This is something that has never been done before in Ireland. Children coming together from all over the country to help children less fortunate than they are by using their talent to take on the heavy hitters of the music industry and show themselves and every other child that any dream is possible .
