City of Dublin Winter Solstice Celebration

 

Enjoy a midwinter’s night to remember at Collins Barracks. Bring your family and take part in traditional storytelling, poetry and céilí, as well as craft making, a parade, and a very special fire ceremony.

 

Saturday, 21 December 2013, 6 – 8.30pm

This magical event will mark the ancient Celtic celebration of the passing of the darkest day of the year.

You and your family are invited to take part in costuming, drumming, parading, and flag carrying. This spectacle of rhythm and fire will live long in the hearts and minds!

The Winter Solstice Celebration is free and family friendly.

7pm Lighting of the Ceremonial Fire Clarke Square, Collins Barracks.
7.15pm Parade Assembles Collins Barracks to Smithfield Square travelling along Ellis Quay and Arran Quay
8-8.30pm Fire Ceremony Smithfield Square
