JD Classics Sponsors Inaugral Bernina Granturismo
Designed to recreate the races held during the International St Moritz Automobile Week in the late 1920s and ‘30s, the new Bernina Granturismo is open to sports and racing cars built up until the early 1980s.
Among this year’s field, JD Classics will be entering four of its most successful racing cars, specially prepared by the world-class JD Classics Competition Department. The team’s Jaguar C-Type, Cooper T33 and ex-Works Ford Escort RS 1800 will be competing for the fastest time, while its Datsun 240Z ‘Big Sam’ wows the crowds on a demonstration run.
The spectacular 5.6-kilometre hill climb route heads from La Rösa up to the Bernina Hospiz on closed roads, with the event kicking off from Friday October 2nd to Sunday October 4th.
JD Classics Managing Director, Derek Hood, said: “As a company we relish the challenges of historic racing, be it at the Nurburgring or at Silverstone, but the Bernina Granturismo really represents something different. Racing against the clock on beautiful, winding Swiss Alpine roads is something that myself and the team are really looking forward to.”
