Motorsport Ireland Weekend Roundup

Former Hewison Autotest champion Sam Bowden made a rare appearance in the TDC Howard Wilde Memorial event at Mondello Park yesterday and proved that he can still take on the current crop of drivers. After twelve tests, Bowden drove a much modified Mini Special to a clear win, setting the pace from the start, and finishing 8.5 seconds ahead of defending title holder Steven Ferguson.
Robin Lyons completed a Northern Ireland clean sweep of the top three places, with David Thompson the best of the home drivers in fourth position. Ten times champion Eamonn Byrne lost a probable second place when his Mini broke a CV joint, with the 20 second fail penalty leaving him down in fifth spot.

Fergil Gregory took his first win of the season in the Leinster Millard Cup Sporting Trial at Ashford, two marks ahead of Siobhan McCann, who continued her recent run of good results, with Enda Byrne the same amount behind in third place.
