Harkin Urges Participation in OPW Flood Meetings in Laois

Independent MEP Marian Harkin has called on as many people as possible to attend the public consultation organised by the OPW in County Laois on Thursday 25th of February to obtain the views of the public on the solution to flooding problems which have once more created havoc across the country.

Speaking in relation to the recent flooding, she urged the public to participate in the session being held in Mountrath Library. There will be sessions for public representatives from 12pm – 1pm and for the public from 1pm -7:00pm.

“This meeting is being held in the context of the National Programme for Flood Risk Assessment and Management and it affords the public a timely opportunity to ensure that their views are considered before Ireland’s flood prevention plans are finalised before submission to the European Commission”, Marian Harkin MEP concluded.
