Actors! SCRIPTS Ireland’s Playwriting Festival needs you!

SCRIPTS Ireland’s Playwriting Festival is a festival dedicated to new Irish plays—the writing of them, the development and nurturing of them.

Looking for an acting opportunity? Well, here it is!

SCRIPTS Ireland’s Playwriting Festival is looking for actors for the ‘Pop Up Play Challenge’ this July. Running from Sunday 3 July- Saturday 9 July in Birr Co. Offaly, actors of all experience levels are required.

Come to our Open Casting Call on Wednesday 8 June at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, 8pm. Pieces to read/perform will be provided on the night or you can prepare your own. Dress comfortably as there will also be some movement involved.

What is the POP-UP PLAY Challenge?

Can you write a play in a day?  Playwrights who register for the challenge, will be given a set of “artistic parameters” around which to base a 5 minute script.  Details will be shared at our kick-off party on Sunday 3 July.  Those who register from out of town will be e-mailed the info at the appointed time. Playwrights will have 24 hours to submit a play. The winners of the challenge will have their plays performed as ‘Pop Up Plays’ in various locations in Birr throughout the festival.

Actors selected will need to be available from Tuesday 5 July- Saturday 9 July for rehearsals and final performances.

They will receive a Festival Pass, which includes tickets to the headline event on Saturday night, access to rehearsals for that event with mentor Eugene O’Brien and professional actors, the opportunity to be a reader for the development process and more.

To be part of the Open Casting Call, please register your interest by Friday 3 June 5pm by texting 086 363 8758 or emailing scriptsireland@gmail.com

The official Photo-Call for SCRIPTS 2016 will also be taking place on the night.

SCRIPTS is supported by Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, Jasango Theatre, Offaly County Council & The Arts Council.
