Repak Call for Nominations for 2nd Annual Pakman Awards

Following the success of the inaugural Pakman awards in 2015, Repak this morning announced the launch of the 2nd annual Pakman Awards and is calling on all businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals in Ireland to submit their nominations.

The award ceremony will take place on the 27th of October in The Intercontinental Hotel in Ballsbridge Dublin and nominations for the awards close at midnight August 31st 2016. Entries for the awards are to be submitted to https://www.repak.ie/pakmanawards/.

The Pakman Awards are a national awards programme that recognise excellence in waste management and recycling among businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals in Ireland.

The Pakman Awards was launched in 2015 by Repak to replace the Repak Recycling Awards and allow more accessibility to the awards for all organisations who demonstrate their sustainability and environmental efforts. The inaugural Pakman marked a significant change in the direction for Repak whose awards were previously only open to its members and recovery operators. Now all organisations who can demonstrate their environmental waste management practices and efforts can enter.

Speaking at the launch of the 2016 Pakman Awards was CEO of Repak, Seamus Clancy:

“It is my great pleasure to confirm this morning the launch of the Pakman Awards in 2016. The Pakman awards is now a more inclusive format and showcases not only the innovation and accomplishments of its members and other compliance schemes, but also Irish organisations, communities or individuals when it comes to excellence in recycling and waste management. The new inclusive format awards led to a record breaking number of entries in 2015, but with the help of our members and other organisations across the country we hope to supersede that number and make this year’s Pakman awards the most competitive to date.’’

The Pakman Award, which represents the overall winner from the 11 categories and replaces the previous coveted titled, Repak Member of the Year, recognises complete excellence in the environmental approach taken by a business, organisation or community group in all aspects of their operations and sets the highest standard when it comes to their environmental initiatives. This will be presented on the night at The Intercontinental Hotel on the 27th October.

The awards are proudly sponsored by The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, The Irish Waste Management Association, ERP.
