New start-up SwitchingRooms.ie provides students with rent-free accommodation

www.switchingrooms.ie is a new online start-up that provides a solution to the housing shortage and escalating rents third level students face.

Switching Rooms provides a platform for students to advertise the room they are leaving behind, on its database, search for a suitable match in the required destination and do a direct swap thus eliminating the crippling cost of rent

New start-up SwitchingRooms.ie provides students with rent-free accommodation “Switching Rooms is the Airbnb for students” according to founder Aisling. “It allows students to swap their home rooms with one another, cutting out the huge rental costs faced by students during the academic year.”

This will allow students to source suitable accommodation, from their own home, and they will save all rental costs.

Parents worrying about the extra costs involved in sending students to college can now look at the alternative option of hosting a Switching Rooms member

Switching Rooms provides a financial gateway to previously unaffordable destinations.

College authorities say a “return to student digs “is the fastest way to deal with an estimated shortage of 25,000 beds in 2016.

Colleges are reporting that their student residences are pre booked before the term ends, thus causing a problem for new students entering the rental market.

This lack of available housing has led to an accommodation crisis for students around the country.

Many struggle to find accommodation, and amongst those who do, some find the conditions unsuitable or the rent too high.  These factors can affect their education immensely. It’s a crisis that many students don’t want to face again, but it’s looking like a repeat is set to happen in 2017.

Switching Rooms also allows students who are planning to study in Europe to use its service and is reaching out to all universities participating in the Erasmus programme.
