Dogs Trust Launches Ireland’s First Ever ‘Pupcake Day’

Today Dogs Trust is delighted to launch Ireland’s first ever ‘Pupcake Day’ taking place on October 6th 2017. Combining two of the greatest things in the world – cake & dogs, Dogs Trust are asking people all over the country to dust off their aprons and hold their own Pupcake Day bake sale in aid of Dogs Trust!

Catherine Leyden and her dog Gucci leant their support and had some fun with Dogs Trust residents August and October, who came out for a sniff of Catherine’s Pupcake bake sale!

Speaking at the launch Catherine Leyden said: “Holding a bake sale is a great way to get people together at home or in your workplace, while also raising money for a worthy cause. Dogs love baked treats too, there are some gorgeous dog friendly recipes included in the downloadable Pupcake pack from Dogs Trust, so why not include human and doggy treats in your bake sale?”

Catherine Leyden will be showing us how to turn plain ol’cupcakes into Pupcakes live at The Doggie Do with Dogs Trust at Herbert Park, Dublin 4, this Sunday September 10th. It’s a fun filled afternoon for dogs and their owners. Find out more about it here.

Bakers will get some great recipes when they sign up for a fundraising Pupcake pack. To give you a taste check out our yummy dog friendly recipe below for Kip’s Favourite Peanut Butter & Apple Cake.

Whether you’re a Great Irish Baker or a total shop bought faker, selling your creations will raise much needed funds for all of the dogs in the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre. Every single Euro raised will go towards the life saving work of Dogs Trust. Pupcake Day takes place on October 6th, but you can hold your bake sale any day in October.

Executive Director, Suzie Carley added: “Our supporters’ sweet treats will help Dogs Trust change the lives of abandoned and neglected dogs all over Ireland – from rescue right through to the day they find their Forever Homes. Who would have thought a Pupcake could be so powerful! Dogs Trust receives no Government funding, so we rely on our wonderful supporters to help us save lives. By fundraising for Dogs Trust this Pupcake Day dog lovers throughout Ireland will be baking a difference for all the dogs and puppies in our care.”

Dogs Trust have put together lots of resources to help make sure each Pupcake Day bake sale is pawsome. There are tips on how to run your sale, cute printable cake toppers and bunting. Plus yummy recipes for dogs and humans.

There are currently 176 dogs and puppies in Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre, awaiting their forever homes.

Dogs Trust is working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy; we never destroy a healthy dog.
