RTE’s Nationwide Explores History Of ALONE

ALONE, the charity that supports older people to age at home, will be featured on next Wednesday’s episode of Nationwide on RTÉ 1, at 7pm. This feature will delve into the work and history of ALONE, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

 

Providing an invaluable service and support for older people across Ireland, the programme will explore the work of ALONE and introduce the staff members and volunteers who provide its vital services. The programme will also interview older people who benefit from ALONE’s Befriending, Housing and Support Co-ordination services.

 

Valerie Cox, author and former RTÉ journalist, will also appear on the programme to discuss her new book, ALONE: The First 40 Years, which tells the inspiring story of the early years of ALONE, from Willie Birmingham’s selfless dedication to the people who followed in his footsteps, as well as the new challenges and issues faced by the charity today.
