Tuath Celebrates Delivery of 8, 000 Homes Nationwide with Short Film

Tuath Housing surpassed a major milestone recently with the delivery of its 8,000th home nationwide. To celebrate this major landmark, Tuath has released a fitting tribute in the form of short film piece that reflects the Approved Housing Body’s status as a nationwide organisation, working to provide high quality, secure homes in places people want to live. Based on a written piece by Tuath tenant and Cork writer Billy O’Callaghan, the piece involves a range of participants including Tuath staff, board members, tenants, and many key stakeholders whom the Association works closely with. Filmed on location in Cork, Galway, Westmeath, Kildare, Dublin, Louth, Wicklow and Wexford, the film is dedicated to conveying the importance of home and how we are all connected in the shared vision of creating safe and sustainable communities. Tuath sees investment in social and affordable housing as an investment in infrastructure, an investment for future generations and an important driver of economic activity today. Letting its first homes in 2006, the Association now works with every Local Authority in Ireland and now has over 8,300 properties nationwide providing homes to more than 22,000 people. 2021 was a hugely successful year for the organisation with the delivery of over 1,700 homes, housing over 4,000 tenants. Tuath is now one of Irelands largest Approved Housing Bodies. It employs more than 135 staff across four regional offices, overseen by an experienced management team with skills in tenancy management, project management, financial management, human resources, legal and communications. The association works closely with Local Authorities, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, The Housing Agency, the Approved Housing Bodies Regulatory Authority, the Housing Finance Agency and AIB amongst others.

Through its membership of the Irish Council for Social Housing, an organisation representing voluntary housing organisations throughout Ireland, the Association is regularly involved in research and initiatives that are dedicated to supporting and developing the voluntary housing sector. With over 2,000 homes currently under construction and the upcoming launch of its new Tenant Engagement strategy, Tuath is well placed to provide even more homes while continuing to engage with those living in them.
