Shine on Palestine: The Alternative Eurovision
Live on stage and live-streamed online THIS FRIDAY MAY 10th – both events will be rebroadcast online on Sat 11th May during the Eurovision final.
Artists of conscience are organising this event as an act of protest at the inclusion of Apartheid Israel in this year’s contest while it is committing a genocide of Palestinians. We are responding to the clear call from Palestinian civil society to boycott Eurovision until Israel is excluded. We are calling on RTÉ and the Irish entry to withdraw from the competition.
We believe Eurovision should be fun, and genocide is not. We will not dance with Israel while they rain down 2000-pound bombs on people living in tents with impunity. We are creating an Alternative Space to celebrate Palestinian cultural resistance, to raise money for Palestine and to reclaim the essence of what Eurovision can be with an incredible line up:

About:
Apartheid-Free Arts is a collective of artists and art workers based in Ireland dedicated to using their creativity and influence to advocate for a free Palestine and to oppose the normalisation of the Israeli occupation. They aim to create inclusive spaces for Palestinian artists and to support efforts towards global solidarity against apartheid and injustice.
Irish Artists for Palestine is a coalition of artists announcing an all-island programme of solidarity events in light of the current genocidal attack and siege on Gaza, and the ongoing occupation of Palestine.
Boycott Eurovision Campaign: The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), a founding member of the BDS movement, calls for the boycott of Eurovision 2024. We urge all participating broadcasters, national competitors, finalists, production crews, and viewers to boycott the contest following the refusal of the organisers, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), to ban genocidal Israel. Palestinians call on supporters to launch creative, strategic initiatives that can pressure broadcasters to withdraw, and appeal to all participants to refuse to be complicit in the EBU’s whitewash of apartheid Israel’s genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza.
