The CDB has a number of priority projects that run from 2009 to 2012, one of which concentrates on the integration of Services in ‘Developing Areas’ in County Cork.
The seven Developing Areas in County Cork are defined by the Department of the Environment, Community and local government to be Blarney, Ballincollig, Carrigaline, Carrigtwohill, Mallow, Midleton, and Monard.
Under the auspices of the CDB, an Interagency group was established and, with the assistance of Exodea Europe Consulting, produced a report entitled ‘Integrated Development Strategy for Developing Areas in County Cork’.
One of the main recommendations of the strategy was the agreement and adoption of a protocol that would facilitate the implementation of co-ordinated planning among agencies.
The purpose of the Planning for Integrated Services in the Community conference was to explain the background of the project and to explore challenges and solutions to the delivery of the protocol.
The Conference was organised by the Office of Community & Enterprise and facilitated by the Planning Policy Unit, both of Cork County Council.
