Gracefield raise gallop!

GRACEFIELD F.C 2 PORTLAOISE A 1

The Offaly-border outfit got off their early-season wobbles with a hard-fought win at home to Portlaoise. Despite going down a goal mid-way through the opening period the home side responded well. The hosts capped off a bright second quarter with an equaliser from Lee Bryan who latched onto an inch perfect through ball from John Knight.

Both sides had chances early on after the resumption. Alas for the visitors the breakthrough goal came late on at their end. Newly-introduced sub Olan O’ Sullivan broke through and stood up the Portlaoise custodian before curling a fantastic shot into the bottom corner. Stephen Flanagan deserved his man-of-the-match award while Pierce Mitchell and Richie Porter also contributed handsomely to the Gracefield win.
