Catch your first fish and learn about Ireland’s freshwater fish species at the National Ploughing Championships 2019
Inland Fisheries Ireland to bring the fisheries resource to the public Visitors to the National Ploughing Championships will be able to catch their first fish as Inland Fisheries Ireland returns with its interactive angling simulator suitable for novices as well as avid anglers! Inland Fisheries Ireland will be located within the Government of Ireland Village at the event which takes place in Ballintrane, Fenagh, County Carlow from the 17th – 19th of September 2019.
Visitors to the Environment, Climate & Sustainability Marquee will learn how to reel in a fish, to identify the various freshwater fish species in a live fish display and to examine the creepy crawlies which live in Ireland’s rivers and lakes under the microscope. Fisheries Officers will be on hand to answer questions from members of the public around fish friendly farming and angling and to provide guidance around Ireland’s fish species and the aquatic environment. Suzanne Campion, Head of Business Development at Inland Fisheries Ireland said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the public to the Environment, Climate & Sustainability Marquee where we hope to bring the fisheries resource to life. We have lots of activities suitable for all the family from catching a fish to examining the fish and creepy crawlies which live in our rivers and lakes. For members of the agricultural community, our team will be on hand to provide information and support on how to practice fish friendly farming.” The Government of Ireland will have a significant presence at the National Ploughing Championships this year, with 150 Government Exhibitors in 19 marquees across 13,000sq metres. Inland Fisheries Ireland will be located in Environment, Climate & Sustainability (marquee number 454).
