Rugby Star Robbie Henshaw urges people to “Skip the Skip” and donate their furniture for Vision Ireland

Vision Ireland have enlisted Robbie Henshaw to encourage the public to think differently about their pre-loved furniture with a special appearance at the recently opened Vision Ireland store in Mullingar on Wednesday, 17th April at 11am. This initiative, coming ahead of Earth Day on April 22nd is set to inspire the community to think differently about disposing of their pre-loved furniture and homeware while decluttering or spring cleaning their home.

With the statistic that approximately 1.2 million potentially reusable bulky items are discarded to landfill or incineration each year, Robbie Henshaw is urging the public to “Skip the skip,” and donate their usable pre-loved furniture and homewares to Vision Ireland. This prevents usable items from ending up in landfill, gives them a new lease of life in someone else’s home and helps Vision Ireland raise more funds to empower people who are blind or vision impaired across the country.

Fresh off a victorious Six Nations campaign, and recent nuptials to his long term love, Mullingar native Sophie, Robbie is keen to emphasis the dual benefit of supporting local retail and community while also looking after the planet. “Donating your furniture instead of throwing it out not only benefits the planet but will also help Vision Ireland raise more funds to empower people who are blind or vision impaired across the country”.

Tara Healy, Area Manager of Vision Ireland, highlights the requirement for donations, “While we’ve seen a fantastic response to our collection of high-quality pre-loved fashion and homewares, there’s a greater need for furniture donations. Every piece you give can make a substantial difference.”

The call to action is clear – Vision Ireland invites the community to bring their pre-loved furniture and homewares to their stores instead of discarding them. Items should be in good condition, complete and working correctly. For more information go to www.vi.ie
